Job summary

Hensel Phelps, an employee‑owned firm, seeks a VDC Engineer to support the Project Team and mentor BIM Engineers on an on‑site role in Montgomery, AL. You will manage and coordinate architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, and site models, ensuring clash detection resolution and constructability throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering, expert Autodesk skills (AutoCAD and Revit), BIM concepts, strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
• Expertise with Autodesk programs – AutoCAD and Revit.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
• Exposure to BIM systems (Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, SketchUp).
• Excellent MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam skills.
• Strong personal management, organization, and teamwork.
• Creative thinker in a close-knit environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years in building or design industry.

Responsibilities

• Support field-related VDC activities on projects.
• Prepare and implement VDC Project Execution Plans and strategies with PM.
• Manage and coordinate architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, site components in the model.
• Identify and resolve clash detection and constructability issues.
• Provide quality assurance on model reliability and content.
• Understand basic field layout principles.
• Enforce VDC schedule; track and follow up.
• Coordinate with T&D, QPL, and 6-Step QC Process.
• Produce updates for field technology deployment and 3D coordination alignment.
