Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a VDC Engineer to support the Project Team and mentor BIM Engineers. You will manage models and act as the primary liaison for VDC coordination between design, engineering, trades, and operations on Hawaii projects.

Role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering and strong Autodesk skills (AutoCAD, Revit). You will work within a collaborative, safety‑driven environment offering comprehensive benefits and future growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
• Expertise with Autodesk programs – specifically AutoCAD and Revit.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
• Exposure to BIM systems (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, SketchUp).
• Excellent computer skills including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Support projects and field-related VDC activities.
• Execute project VDC Project Execution Plans and implementation strategies with Project & VDC Manager.
• Manage and coordinate architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, and site components of the model.
• Identify and resolve clash detection and constructability issues.
• Provide quality assurance for model reliability and content.
• Understand basic field layout principles.
• Enforce VDC schedule with tracking and notifications.
• Produce updates for field technology deployment and align 3D coordination for primary control plan.
