Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Patient Observer to provide continuous visual monitoring for patients in Epilepsy Monitoring Units and related areas. You will operate the AvaSys TeleSitter and communicate with patients via a digital two-way audio device, coordinating with nursing staff as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and ideally 1 year of Nurse Assistant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• 1 year of Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to monitor up to 15 patients on one screen and remain alert.

Responsibilities

• Maintains visual observation at all times and verbally redirects patient via 2-way audio device.
• Sums nursing staff if patient requires assistance.
• Provide care per RN plan and document in system.
• Handoffs on unit and coordinate with relief to ensure constant observation.
• Explain care to patient when necessary, with service excellence.
• Identify and report patient safety issues and hazards.
