Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Patient Observer to join the epilepsy team at UNC Medical Center. The role involves constant visual monitoring of patients in various units, utilizing AvaSys TeleSitter technology, and collaborating with RNs to ensure safety and continuous observation on site in Chapel Hill, NC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required.
• Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• One year of Nurse Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visual observation at all times and redirect patient via two-way audio.
• Use AvaSys TeleSitter software proficiently.
• Provide care per the patient’s treatment plan as delegated by the RN.
• Handoff pertinent information to the next shift and coordinate with nurses for relief.
• Explain care to patients when needed, without offering medical opinions.
• Seek assistance promptly if patient poses risk to self or others.
• Follow safety rules and participate in safety programs.
• Relay patient needs to RN or US and document accurately in the system.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and self.
