Job summary

IES is seeking a Lead Communications Technician to act as on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. You will ensure job completion with safety, quality, and efficiency, while coordinating with the Project Manager to maintain budgets and schedules.

You will terminate fiber, perform site quality checks, and manage documentation such as timesheets and change orders. Travel within regional territory may be required.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Must be able to terminate fiber.
• Must possess a minimum of six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience.
• Must know the universal communications color codes.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
• Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
• BICSI Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site crews; train staff and enforce safety/quality guidelines.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity and budget compliance.
• Accurately complete all project paperwork (timesheets, work orders, transfers).
• Perform quality checks and prepare as-built drawings; handle cross connects.
• Serve as main on-site customer contact and attend meetings as needed.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues; apply problem-solving skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
