Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of a growing organization in Cincinnati, Ohio. This direct-hire role is 100% onsite and focuses on month-end close, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience, working knowledge of GAAP, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly closing process with accuracy and deadlines.
• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, and adjustments.
• Reconcile general ledger, bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts.
• Research discrepancies and analyze variances vs budgets/forecasts.
• Assist with preparing financial statements, schedules, and internal reports.
• Maintain organized documentation for entries, reconciliations, and transactions.
• Coordinate with internal departments to validate accounting information.
• Track capital expenditures and related reporting.
• Monitor cash balances and funding needs.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end reporting.
• Respond to inquiries from leadership and auditors.
• Recommend improvements to internal controls and efficiency.
