Live Oak Bank in Wilmington, NC invites you to join as a Software Engineering Intern for a 10-week summer program (May 17 - July 23, 2027) onsite at our headquarters. You will help build and improve digital products and platforms that support customers, employees, and banking operations, working with engineers, product teams, and business partners.

You will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to modern software practices, attend agile ceremonies, learn AI-assisted development

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and services.
• Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, designers, and stakeholders to deliver new features and enhancements.
• Learn and use AI-assisted development tools to support software design, coding, testing, documentation, and problem-solving while developing modern engineering skills.
• Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and agile ceremonies.
• Research emerging technologies and help identify innovative solutions to business and technical challenges.
• Support cloud-based applications and services, with opportunities to work in AWS environments.
• Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and project updates.
• Help design and implement integrations with internal systems and external fintech partners.
• Assist with automated testing and quality assurance activities to ensure reliable software delivery.
• Learn and apply secure software development practices in a regulated financial services environment.
• Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
• Actively seek feedback, learn from mentors, and continuously develop your technical and professional skills.
