Job summary

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Services Coordinator to support shelter participants through intake, safety oversight, and service planning. This is a fully onsite, client-facing role requiring in‑person engagement at ECS program locations.

The position emphasizes daily shift coordination, documentation, confidentiality, and collaboration with case management to connect clients with services while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with adults who are unhoused, have mental health/substance use challenges, or disabilities is a plus.
• Strong communication skills; uphold ethics in social services; active listening and crisis-resolution abilities are essential.
• Intermediate MS Office skills are required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication is necessary; ability to work well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Check the exterior of the building on a regular schedule to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Conduct wellness checks to ensure security and program compliance.
• Maintain shift reports and logs according to procedure.
• Perform duties in accordance with program SOPs and policies.
• Orient participants to shelter rules and responsibilities.
• Apply shelter rules in a fair and confidential manner.
• Maintain documentation timely and accurately (attendance, disciplinary actions, eligibility, bed assignments, etc.).
• Report participant concerns, maintenance, or safety issues to supervisor immediately.
• Respond to participant requests and questions courteously.
• Attend daily shift-change meetings.
• Ensure workspace is cleaned and organized before shift end.
• Handle client belongings per policy and dispose as required.
• Honor confidentiality and adhere to agency rules.
