Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Resident Engineer in Albuquerque, NM to lead construction management efforts on diverse projects spanning roadways, bridges, utilities and flood control. You will supervise inspection, testing, and field staff while ensuring contract compliance and safety.

The role requires a BSCE, 7+ years of relevant experience, and NM PE licensure (or eligibility within 3 months). Strong communication and adherence to codes are essential for project success.

Qualifications

• BSCE degree in a relevant field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology)
• Min 7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or Project Engineer roles
• Licensed professional engineer in New Mexico or ability to become licensed in NM within 3 months
• Ability to read and completely understand contract documents
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Valid, current New Mexico Driver's license
• Proven track record of uplifting workplace safety and adherence to safety policies

Responsibilities

• Coordinate supervision and direction of Construction Services staff
• Manage and supervise projects per contract documents and applicable specs
• Review project documentation for acceptance (pay apps, change orders, submittals, shop drawings)
• Develop and train construction inspectors and field staff
• Direct and evaluate field staff workload and performance
• Inspect and review work per codes and project drawings
• Monitor field material testing (concrete, steel, asphalt, soils)
• Record field measurements and prepare quantity reports for payments
• Review inspector daily reports per project requirements
• Provide technical leadership for complex CM projects
• Make independent engineering decisions on construction problems
• Manage field engineering, inspection, testing, surveying, and QC on projects
• Supervise field office personnel and sub-consultants
• Represent projects at meetings and conferences
• Adhere to company code of conduct and safety policies
• Perform other duties as assigned
