Job summary

WSP is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead our Construction Management team in Albuquerque, NM. The role focuses on construction engineering, inspection oversight, and program management across roadway, bridges, utilities, and flood control projects.

Key duties include coordinating staff, ensuring contract and code compliance, reviewing pay apps and submittals, and training inspection teams. A NM PE license or eligibility within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

• BSCE degree in a relevant field (e.g., Construction Management, Civil Engineering).
• A minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or Project Engineer roles.
• Licensed professional engineer in New Mexico or ability to become licensed within 3 months of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand contract documents.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid, current New Mexico driver's license (obtain within 3 months).
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise, and lead Construction Services staff on projects.
• Manage projects per contract documents, plans, and standards.
• Verify and review project documentation for acceptance, including pay apps, change orders, and submittals.
• Supervise inspectors, laboratory technicians and field staff assigned to a project.
• Direct and evaluate work, ensuring compliance with drawings and specs.
• Monitor quality control and QA/QC field testing for materials.
• Prepare quantity reports for payment calculations and changes.
• Review daily inspector reports and project progress.
• Provide technical leadership for complex CM projects or programs.
• Manage sub-consultants and represent projects at meetings.
