Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to maintain the physical integrity of a 400+ unit property in Tiburon, CA. You will complete work orders, manage turnovers, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure a high-quality living environment for residents.

You will mentor junior technicians, lead small project teams, and develop preventive maintenance plans while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2+ years in property maintenance.
• HVAC and/or CPO certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required (golf cart operations).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair.
• Fluent reading/writing/speaking English.
• Familiarity with MS Office and property management software.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and building equipment.
• Diagnose issues and support major repair and renovation projects.
• Lead junior maintenance technicians and mentor teams.
• Develop preventive maintenance plans for optimal system performance.
• Conduct regular inspections and address issues before they escalate.
• Be available for on-call emergencies and respond promptly to work orders.
