Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to serve as a technical lead for enterprise data engineering delivery for Hitachi Federal customers. Based in Washington, VA on an onsite schedule, this role guides solution design, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement across the delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
• Minimum 8 years of enterprise software engineering, data engineering, or professional services consulting experience.
• Proven experience leading technical implementation projects within enterprise environments.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures and integrations.
• Strong customer-facing consulting and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of complex professional services engagements from design through implementation.
• Design enterprise-scale data engineering solutions aligned to customer requirements.
• Lead customer architecture workshops, technical planning sessions, and solution reviews.
• Translate customer objectives into scalable technical solutions.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point across project delivery.
• Drive customer success through high-quality implementation and leadership.
• Deliver enterprise data pipelines, data integration, and storage solutions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to keep projects on schedule.
• Review SOWs, designs, and implementation plans.
• Create customer-facing architecture documents and guides.
• Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders.
• Design and develop Java-based applications, APIs, integrations, and automation.
• Develop reusable software components and integration frameworks.
• Design scalable data pipelines and orchestration workflows.
• Implement RESTful API integrations.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability; troubleshoot issues.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge across Professional Services.
