Job summary

The Addison Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for a permanent onsite role in Purcellville, VA. The position focuses on balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, and accurate financial reporting, with responsibilities spanning WIP analysis, journal entries, and KPI reporting.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in accounting, strong GL and close experience, and can ensure audit-ready work papers while supporting the Controller and ASC 842 lease accounting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger accounting experience.
• Strong month-end close experience.
• Extensive balance sheet reconciliation experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations across assigned accounts.
• Review reconciliations prepared by other team members prior to Controller review.
• Prepare and analyze monthly Work-in-Progress schedules.
• Tie job cost and billing activity to revenue recognition and reconcile WIP activity to the general ledger.
• Reconcile prepaid accounts and record monthly amortization.
• Record and reconcile depreciation and amortization activity.
• Support lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842.
• Research and resolve reconciling items and account variances.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready reconciliation workpapers.
• Prepare journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, leases, WIP, and cost-in-excess-of-billings activity.
• Support the Controller with month-end close activities and close checklist items.
• Maintain and improve monthly financial reporting packages.
• Prepare flash reporting for leadership ahead of the full monthly close.
• Build and maintain KPI scorecards and ad hoc financial reports
