Job summary

Cupertino Electric, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist - Energy to support project teams in building and maintaining an Incident and Injury Free Culture.

The role emphasizes on-site safety leadership, compliance with NFPA and other standards, and collaboration with field personnel to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement. The position reports to Project Safety management and involves on-site work with varying travel per project timeline.

Qualifications

• Understanding of NFPA, NESC, ASTM and ANSI standards.
• Experience with union workforce is desirable.
• Ability to work independently with adequate training.
• Strong relationships with project stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Support project safety planning and conduct field safety walks.
• Evaluate safety programs and log observations in leading indicators.
• Develop and track project-specific corrective action plans.
• Provide safety coaching and recognition for safe behaviors.
• Assist with site safety orientations for new employees.
• Assist and co-facilitate basic safety training (HazCom, Fall Protection, LOTO, etc.).
• Support investigations and facilitate injury/illness case management.
• Perform periodic checks of power tools and equipment.
• Monitor compliance with CEI and subcontractor safety rules.
• Lead weekly toolbox safety meetings and attend daily safety meetings.
• Evaluate meeting participation and effectiveness.
• Evaluate the Flex & Stretch Program and implementation.
