Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Quality Engineer for a fully onsite role in Newton/Hickory, North Carolina. You will ensure products and processes meet quality standards, interface with OEMs, and drive continuous improvement in a highly automated manufacturing environment.

You will lead CAPA, audits, and cross-functional teams, applying Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen methods to reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield. Strong GD&T and ISO/IATF experience are required to succeed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 2+ years in quality engineering/QA in a production environment, preferably automotive.
• Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles and practices.
• Hands-on with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
• Proficiency with CAPA processes and documentation.
• Strong GD&T skills for interpreting blueprints.
• Experience with FMEA, SPC, control plans, PPAP.
• Root cause analysis using 5 Whys / Ishikawa.
• Ability to analyze quality data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Proficient in Excel / Minitab for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC processes to meet requirements.
• Monitor production operations for compliance with quality standards.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement CAPA.
• Support internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, IATF).
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain to resolve issues.
• Analyze quality data to drive improvements and KPIs.
• Lead Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen improvement initiatives.
• Review designs and drawings for quality risks and mitigations.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
• Train staff on quality standards and tools.
• Lead automation-related quality projects.
• Drive improvements in automation, robotics, and machine vision.
• Maintain control plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, inspection plans.
• Interpret GD&T to ensure parts meet specs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency.
• Perform other quality engineering duties.
