Job summary

PPG is seeking a Production & Materials Planning Specialist to join our on-site manufacturing team in Sylmar, CA. You will balance customer demand with plant capacity, develop detailed production schedules, and ensure seamless material flow from suppliers to production lines.

You will monitor capacity, run MRP reports, manage purchase orders, and coordinate with Quality and Customer Service to resolve issues. A strong background in ERP/MRP and Advanced Excel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials control, or scheduling in manufacturing/aerospace.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Advanced Excel is mandatory.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generate, prioritize, and release Work Orders aligned with MPS and demand forecasts.
• Develop detailed production schedules to optimize machine utilization and on-time delivery.
• Monitor capacity and equipment constraints to balance workload and prevent bottlenecks.
• Run and analyze MRP reports to identify shortages and replenishment needs.
• Create and manage POs for materials based on schedules and thresholds.
• Coordinate with vendors to follow up on POs, track milestones, and resolve issues.
• Lead MRB activities to disposition non-conforming materials and RTV items.
• Manage end-to-end RMA process for customer returns with Quality and Customer Service teams.
• Coordinate material allocations for high-priority products or constrained components.
• Identify potential bottlenecks and develop mitigation/contingency plans.
• Translate data into actionable insights and support continuous improvement.
