Job summary

System One is seeking a Production Manager in Carson, CA to lead shop floor production, drive on-time delivery, and coordinate daily activities with staff. The role focuses on producing rail vehicles safely and with high quality, within labor budgets and project schedules.

The position requires strong leadership, solid knowledge of production processes, ISO-9001/QMS, and hands-on experience with ERP systems and production-tracking tools. Onsite, full-time, with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in manufacturing or production.
• Strong understanding of production processes, safety standards, and quality control.
• Excellent communication and team management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and production-tracking tools.
• Ability to analyze performance data and develop recovery plans.
• Knowledge of ISO-9001/QMS processes and continuous improvement.
• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred in Engineering or Manufacturing.
• Certifications in safety, quality, or production management are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily shift production meetings and address blockers.
• Provide end-of-shift updates to Operations Manager and Production Planner.
• Update project visualization screens daily.
• Plan and oversee daily production schedules to meet demand.
• Monitor output and adjust staffing, equipment, and resources.
• Collaborate with Quality, Testing, Methods, Eng., and Materials teams.
• Ensure safety protocols and training are current.
• Prepare monthly status reports and recovery plans.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and quality.
• Oversee supervisors, leads, and staff; set expectations.
• Train staff on methods, procedures, and tooling usage.
• Develop and refine production work instructions with quality checks.
• Maintain a clean, 5S-implemented production area.
• Track labor hours, productivity, and adherence in ERP systems.
• Coordinate with Quality and Testing on workmanship issues and corrective actions.
• Conduct safety audits and corrective actions.
