Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PT) certification preferred (ASCP-BOC)
• 3-5 years hospital laboratory experience preferred; internship or equivalent 0-1 year required.

Responsibilities

• Verify correct specimen and labeling requirements for test orders.
• Register and label tubes correctly and accurately.
• Centrifuge and aliquot specimens according to department policy.
• Sort, store, and deliver laboratory specimens by department and specimen requirements.
• Collaborate with medical technologists and client services to resolve specimen problems.
• Answer telephones and provide assistance as needed.
