Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring a Phlebotomy Specialist to collect specimens, ensure accurate labeling, and support specimen transport within the laboratory setting. The role emphasizes patient safety, privacy, and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.

The position requires a high school diploma and phlebotomy training, with preference for pediatric and inpatient phlebotomy experience; training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pediatric Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Inpatient Phlebotomy experience preferred, and training will also be provided.
• Graduate of a training Program that includes phlebotomy skills, with demonstrated and acceptable competency in phlebotomy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) and transport per procedures.
• Label specimens in presence of patients and ensure proper requisitions.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and patient confidentiality.
• Provide reception/clerical support at the Specimen Collection center front desk as needed.
• With training, provide EKG, clerical, and specimen transport functions.
• Monitor patients and ensure bleeding has stopped and patient is stable.
