Job summary

Upper Mattaponi Tribe in Virginia seeks a Pharmacy Technician to ensure access to safe and effective use of medications within the Health Services Department. The role is full-time and non-exempt, onsite at Aylett, VA, with standard duties including triage, insurance adjudication, inventory, and patient service.

A Virginia license is required; two years of experience preferred. The position emphasizes on-site work, training, and collaboration with pharmacists and staff to support patient access

Qualifications

• Demonstrate good mathematical and computer skills.
• Able to learn and become proficient in the use of pharmacy operating systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws related to pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities

• Distribute function assignments and higher complexity pharmacy assignments as directed by the pharmacist.
• Provide telephone and in person triage of patient pharmacy care issues working at the top of their license to assist in improving patient outcomes and medication access.
• Assist and contribute to continuous total quality improvement activities for the pharmacy team.
• Greet patients and healthcare providers with a helpful and positive attitude. Answer questions presented and/or seek assistance as required.
• Verify the correct identity of the patient or patient\'s representative before releasing any medications while working the cash register.
• Assist in the training of peer technicians, pharmacists, and pharmacy students.
• Involved in effective inventory management processes.
• Process prescription order entry and adjudicate insurance claims.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
