Job summary

The Pharmacist position with Upper Mattaponi Tribe Health System in Gloucester, VA focuses on ensuring safe, effective medication use within a community health setting. The Pharmacist operates on-site, integrating with local providers to optimize patient outcomes and support tribal health services.

Two years’ licensed pharmacist experience is preferred; new graduates are considered. The role requires BS/PharmD, onsite work, and adherence to regulatory standards within a sovereign tribal

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience as a licensed pharmacist preferred; new graduates considered.
• PGY-1 Residency preferred.
• Degree in Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Process and dispense medications in a local, community-focused pharmacy setting.
• Practice in a true pharmaceutical care environment, apply clinical knowledge and skills to improve outcomes.
• Monitor patient drug therapies, advising interventions, and inform patients of potential side effects.
• Instruct patients how and when to take prescribed medications.
• Complete operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, charges, and pharmacy inventory management.
• Adhere to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.
• Distribute function assignments and assist in management of pharmacy operations.
• Integrate with community healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes and access to care.
• Contribute to continuous total quality improvement activities for the pharmacy department.
• Assist in the training of pharmacy technicians, peer pharmacists and pharmacy students.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
