Job summary

The Pharmacist is assigned to the UMT pharmacies within the Upper Mattaponi Tribe Health System in Virginia. The Pharmacist ensures safe and effective use of medications for the community.

Responsibilities include dispensing medications, applying clinical knowledge to improve patient outcomes, monitoring therapies, and providing patient education on medication use within a true pharmaceutical care setting. Collaboration with providers is essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate good mathematical and computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy operating systems.
• Work closely with others to maintain a positive work environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws related to pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities

• Process and dispense medications in a local, community-focused pharmacy setting.
• Practice in a true pharmaceutical care environment to improve outcomes.
• Monitor patient therapies, advise interventions, and inform patients of potential side effects.
• Instruct patients how and when to take prescribed medications.
• Complete operational requirements of the pharmacy including controlled substances records and inventory management.
• Adhere to applicable laws and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.
• Distribute function assignments and assist in management of pharmacy operations.
• Collaborate with community healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes and access to care.
• Support total quality improvement activities for the pharmacy department.
• Assist in training pharmacy technicians, peer pharmacists and students.
