Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join the Ambulatory Float Pool, supporting multiple outpatient clinics in Hyde Park and surrounding locations.

This 100% onsite role requires registration, scheduling, financial counseling and patient support across specialties, including Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Primary Care, Geriatrics and Pediatrics. Based in the greater Chicagoland area, you will interact with patients, families and care teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and handle challenging situations.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Basic typing (35 wpm) and 4500 keystrokes/hour.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to use PCs and Epic software.
• Completion of Cadence Scheduling competencies.
• Completion of Point of Service Collection competencies.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients, collects demographics and billing information.
• Performs pre- and post-billing tasks and handles inquiries.
• Verifies insurance and obtains authorizations; interprets contracts.
• Provides financial counseling to patients and families.
• Initiates payment arrangements and processes payments.
• Answers calls and supports general clerical duties.
