Job summary

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of Distribution Overhead Line experience required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related area.
• Ability to read, interpret, understand, and translate OH and UG one-line diagrams during normal and emergency situations is required.
• Ability to respond to Overhead, Underground and Sub Station related outages is required.
• Ability and knowledge to develop standard operating procedures for field personnel to perform Overhead and Underground electric work and connections on energized distribution/transmission facilities is preferred.
• Must have or possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting, and performance tracking of the Overhead Department.
• Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively to the Overhead Department.
• Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Coach and lead a culturally diverse workforce to ensure tasks are carried out efficiently.
• Oversee the overhead electric workload and resources to deliver against the work plan and budget.
• Manage employee scheduling within the Department.
• Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies, and processes.
• Review and approve area purchase orders, invoices, and payroll activities.
• Execute all tasks in compliance with Company, Federal and State requirements.
• Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Monitor performance of allocated staff and address issues related to sickness, discipline, and quality of work.
• Act as first point of contact for internal stakeholders and outside agencies.
• Promote and implement best practices to achieve high productivity and low costs.
• Coordinate department training and ensure compliance.
