Job summary

Talent Movers is seeking a Release Sustaining Engineer to own branch cuts, backport verification, and RC qualification for a Linux-based platform in NYC on-site. You will coordinate with the build and QA teams to ensure timely, stable releases while maintaining an auditable cherry-pick matrix.

The role requires 4+ years in release engineering, strong C/C++/Python skills, expertise with CI pipelines and Gerrit-based workflows, and availability to align with US Eastern business hours.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in release engineering, build engineering, or sustaining engineering.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python, and shell scripting.
• Experience with branch management, cherry-picking, and backport verification.
• Familiar with CI/build systems and release qualification gates.
• Based in UTC-5 aligned location and able to work US Eastern hours.

Responsibilities

• Own branch cuts and RC matrix qualification against the RC matrix and blocking criteria.
• Cherry-pick and backport approved fixes; verify backport does not regress its target branch.
• Track production defect escapes; support root-cause analysis and add regression tests.
• Stage P0/P1 fixes for same-day release with real-time coordination with onsite lead.
• Maintain the release/cherry-pick matrix as an auditable record.
• Flag at-risk release candidates days before the cut deadline.
• Support automated RC-branch verification tooling as it comes online.
