Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Reactor Operations Engineer to support testing, commissioning, and long-term operation of Kaleidos reactors. You will bridge engineering, operations, licensing, and human factors in a fast-paced environment and gain hands-on experience as a Reactor Operator during future reactor tests.

The role requires onsite work at the El Segundo HQ, with travel up to 50–60% of the time, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant

Qualifications

• 4+ years of full-time professional engineering experience.
• Understanding of nuclear, mechanical, I&C and electrical systems as an integrated plant.
• Experience managing complex hardware and software testing processes.
• Ability to apply first principles thinking in uncertainty and risk.
• Background in highly regulated industries (nuclear, aerospace, aviation, maritime).

Responsibilities

• Qualify as an operator to gain firsthand experience and align work with real-world execution.
• Implement operations conduct and fleet monitoring for Kaleidos reactors.
• Develop and refine procedures integrating software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Support development of control algorithms for semi-automated and manual operations.
• Evaluate plant response to events, accidents, and malfunctions.
• Participate in design reviews from operations/maintenance perspective.
• Ensure DOE/NRC standards and clear procedural documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve operator interfaces and workflows.
