Job summary

Smithville is seeking a Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain a robust broadband transport network across core, aggregation, and access layers in Ellettsville, IN. The role focuses on ensuring reliability, scalability, and service quality for residential and commercial customers.

You will work onsite, collaborate with teams, and support customers during installations and turn‑ups. The ideal candidate has strong IP networking knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting, and experience

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing and switching.
Experience troubleshooting network transport protocols.
Two-year degree or equivalent experience in telecom.
Excellent communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Network Troubleshooting across L2/L3, MPLS, SIP, OTN, BGP, ERPS.
Network Design & Architecture for residential, commercial, and internal systems.
Configure equipment from Cisco, Ciena, Calix and Metaswitch.
Research and evaluate new hardware and software for reliability.
Coordinate installations and service turn-ups with stakeholders.
Deploy, test and maintain network infrastructure across environments.
Create documentation and procedures (MOPs, standards).
Provide cost estimates for commercial services using Salesforce.
