Job summary

Programmers.io is seeking a Network Engineer for an onsite role in Middletown, NY. The contract position supports LAN/WAN strategies, hardware/software integration, and vendor coordination to ensure reliable network operations.

The candidate will have 4+ years of network engineering experience, hands-on Cisco and Aruba hardware, and knowledge of ISE NAC and SD-WAN. This role involves after-hours support and strong documentation practices as part of a responsive IT team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Network Engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
• Experience with HPE/Aruba switches and wireless technologies.
• Working knowledge of Cisco ISE and Network Access Control.
• Knowledge and experience with SD-WAN technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular feedback on project status, milestones, risks, and potential impacts.
• Develop LAN/WAN strategies and evaluate, select, implement, and integrate hardware and software products into comprehensive network solutions that meet business requirements.
• Perform after-hours systems support, installations, maintenance, implementations, and production changes as required.
• Provide specialized technical expertise to research and resolve complex network infrastructure issues, including coordination with hardware and software vendors.
• Advise team members on procedures, techniques, and requirements to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and availability of company infrastructure.
• Recommend improvements to network processes, systems, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards.
• Conduct implementations, conversions, and upgrades in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures and approved change management processes during maintenance windows.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, project managers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams and implementation-related materials.
• Work closely with vendors on product and service implementation, troubleshooting, and support activities.
