Job summary

SynergenX Health — Kingwood is seeking a Medical Assistant / Patient Services Coordinator to join our onsite team in Houston. This dual-role blends front desk customer service with basic clinical support under licensed providers to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate has at least 6 months of back-office medical experience or an externship, a high school diploma, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience as a back-office medical assistant or externship.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior clinic or healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Strong communication and patient service skills.
• Proficient with EHR and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients in a warm, professional manner.
• Explain insurance benefits, coverage, and out-of-pocket costs clearly.
• Collect and process patient payments accurately.
• Answer phones, manage messages, and respond to patient communications.
• Enter and maintain patient and insurance information in the EHR.
• Maintain an organized front desk and waiting area.
• Support scheduling, administrative tasks, and clinic flow.
• Complete daily cash reconciliation and deposits.
• Obtain and document vital signs for patients.
• Perform phlebotomy and injections as directed.
• Assist providers with clinical procedures as needed.
• Operate EKG and point-of-care testing equipment.
• Prepare lab requisitions and patient plans in advance.
• Ensure efficient patient flow and rooming within 10–15 minutes.
