Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering is required.
• Experience in a materials laboratory is a plus.
• Experience with metallurgical sample preparation, use of microscopes, and hardness testing equipment.
• Experience with failure analysis and fractography of metal and/or plastic samples is a plus.
• Experience with chemicals and safety procedures handling.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (casting, forging, welding) is beneficial.
• Strong computer skills with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Independence and self-motivation are essential for success; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Metallurgical sample preparation and evaluation.
• Failure analysis and fractography.
• Optical microscopy and digital imaging.
• Conducting accelerated environmental tests.
• Coating performance and validation testing.
• Writing concise, accurate reports outlining data-based conclusions.
• Maintain test schedule for multiple test resources and report out to project leads.
• Implement lean practices to optimize throughput in the lab.
• Maintaining and operating an organized materials lab.
