Job summary

Wyoming, MN-based Doherty Staffing Solutions seeks a Materials Engineer to support materials testing, validation, and failure analysis across powersports products within a hands-on laboratory environment.

You will perform metallurgical prep and evaluation, analyze results, and coordinate tests while maintaining an organized lab and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. This temporary/full-time role offers weekly pay and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, and welding (beneficial).
• Strong MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical sample preparation and evaluation.
• Conduct failure analysis and fractography of metal and plastic components.
• Use optical microscopy, digital imaging, and hardness testing equipment to analyze materials.
• Execute accelerated environmental, chemical, and coating performance tests.
• Analyze test results and prepare clear, data-driven technical reports.
• Coordinate testing schedules and communicate results with project leads.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain an organized, efficient laboratory environment.
