Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Crete, NE is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our food processing plant running smoothly. You’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and support continuous production.

You’ll use SAP for work orders, follow GMPs and safety protocols, and work with a team to solve complex issues. A high school diploma and 1+ years in industrial maintenance are required; forklift operation and HazMat training are a plus.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
• Must pass fit test to wear SCBA gear and HazMat training is a plus.
• Ability to read and execute work orders, manuals, and technical documents.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented production setting.

Responsibilities

• Efficient Work Order & Emergency Response – review orders, plan tools, parts, and manpower; use SAP to create work orders; respond to emergencies promptly.
• Hands-On Maintenance & Equipment Repair – monitor machinery, troubleshoot, replace faulty parts, test functionality, and weld/fabricate as needed.
• Installation & System Maintenance – install and maintain mechanical, piping, and electrical systems per specs and safety rules.
• Technical Skills & Problem-Solving – apply knowledge of tools and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Safety First – follow LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs to ensure a safe, compliant plant environment.
