Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly in a fast-paced food processing environment. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, mechanical systems, and supporting piping, using welding and fabrication skills as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ year in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years in related field.
• Vocational/technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to operate forklifts or PIT equipment and read work orders.
• Read and translate equipment manuals; work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders to assess tools, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies.
• Use SAP to create work orders.
• Respond to emergencies with the right tools to restore equipment quickly.
• Diagnose, repair and test mechanical and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, packaging, and slicing equipment.
• Fabricate replacement parts using welding, cutting and sheet metal work.
• Install and maintain mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and GMPs.
