Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant running smoothly. You’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment, using welding and fabrication skills to fabricate parts when needed.

Join a team committed to safety, GMPs, and continuous improvement; you’ll work with SAP work orders, perform preventive maintenance, and respond swiftly to equipment issues to prevent production downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial maintenance or 4 years direct experience.
• Technical diploma or associate degree in maintenance (preferred).
• Ability to operate a forklift and read technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and prepare tools, time, parts; use SAP to create work orders.
• Monitor machinery, diagnose issues, replace faulty parts, test functionality.
• Install and maintain systems, electrical controls, and piping.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps and packaging equipment.
• Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout and GMPs.
