Job summary

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Field Technician II for an onsite role in Topeka, KS. You will lead field teams, perform low-voltage installation and service, troubleshoot issues, and document results to ensure quality installations for a major client in the retail/technology services sector.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and the ability to travel regionally; the position emphasizes hands-on leadership and ongoing collaboration with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Technician I experience or equivalent low-voltage installation/service background.
• Ability to perform field troubleshooting and testing with minimal direction.
• Proficiency in at least 5 of the listed technologies (Voice, Data, Fire Alarm, Fiber, Burglar Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, Digital Signage, Access Points, Networking).

Responsibilities

• Serve as an onsite lead, directing, inspecting, and auditing technician work to ensure installation quality and consistency.
• Perform low-voltage installation and service work at customer sites, including configuring, troubleshooting, testing, and documenting results.
• Act as an escalation point in the field—communicating updates to project teams and helping drive issue resolution.
• Support training and coaching for internal team members and subcontractors to reinforce best practices and reliable installs.
• Travel throughout the region as needed and remain flexible with shifts and occasional work outside standard hours.
