Job summary

Transdev North America, Inc. in Portland, OR is seeking a Lead Dispatcher to lead a 100% onsite dispatch team on the TriMet LIFT contract. Youll provide real-time coaching, train new dispatchers, and escalate complex issues while ensuring safe, ADA-compliant service and strong documentation.

Youll oversee real-time operations with multiple tools, manage service gaps, and coordinate with departments to maintain reliability. This role demands flexibility for extended shifts in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in paratransit dispatch, transit operations, or emergency communications.
• Ability to provide operational guidance, training, and support to others.
• Strong communication, multitasking, crisis management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with Trapeze, VISION, Lytx, radio systems, and standard office applications.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-shift leadership, real-time coaching, and guidance to Dispatchers.
• Train new Dispatch hires with hands-on system training and shadowing.
• Evaluate trainee readiness and communicate training needs to supervisors.
• Serve as first escalation point for complex operational issues and ADA decisions.
• Monitor real-time performance using dispatch tools and dashboards.
• Dispatch, reroute, reassign, and recover service during delays or disruptions.
• Manage will-calls, no-shows, and same-day changes to service.
• Coordinate with other teams to resolve gaps and maintain service continuity.
• Initiate emergency procedures and coordinate with safety and operations as needed.
• Maintain accurate incident logs and documentation.
• Support ADA-compliant decision-making and passenger service obligations.
• Ensure smooth shift handoffs and communicate unresolved issues to on-site management.
