Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking a Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Seattle-based team onsite. The role focuses on proactive monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis to maintain stable, high‑performing systems.

You will work with observability tools and CI/CD practices while collaborating across software engineering and infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate has a foundational SRE background, proficiency in scripting, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
Foundational SRE knowledge with focus on monitoring/alerting/incident management.
Experience with observability tools (Prometheus/Datadog/New Relic/Grafana) and logging (Splunk/Elasticsearch).
Proficiency in one or more languages (Python/Go/Bash/Java).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong analytical skills and problem solving.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Proactive mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Monitor critical systems with real-time dashboards and respond to anomalies.
Participate in on-call rotations for incident response and restoration of services.
Perform deep root-cause analyses and document findings.
Improve observability through enhanced monitoring, logging and alerts.
Automate routine tasks and incident remediation where possible.
Assist in defining and tracking SLOs/SLIs for reliability.
Contribute to CI/CD improvements to minimize downtime.
Create and maintain documentation for monitoring and incidents.
Collaborate with software engineering and infra teams to boost fault tolerance.
