Job summary

Nordstrom Technology is seeking a motivated Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Seattle team. You will focus on proactive monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis to ensure system stability and performance.

The role requires onsite work in Seattle, WA, five days a week, with a schedule of 6:30am–2:30pm Tuesday through Thursday. You will collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to improve observability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational understanding of SRE principles with focus on monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
• Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash, or Java).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Understanding Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time systems and respond to anomalies with proactive alerts.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to mitigate outages.
• Investigate incidents to identify root causes and document findings.
• Collaborate to refine monitoring, logging, and alerting for actionable insights.
• Write scripts to automate routine tasks and reporting.
• Assist in defining and tracking SLOs/SLIs for reliability.
• Support CI/CD improvements to reduce downtime.
• Create and maintain monitoring and incident documentation.
• Collaborate with software engineering and infra teams for reliability.
