Job summary

JLL in Newport, DE is seeking a Mechanical Technician to oversee the preventative maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems, life safety equipment, and related controls. You will perform daily inspections, coordinate with contractors, and maintain documentation to ensure reliable operations and tenant comfort.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in HVAC control systems, hands-on use of tools and working at heights, and strong communication to minimize tenant disruption.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of practical experience with strong knowledge of HVAC control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work with hand tools and at heights safely.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and resolve building issues in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to maintain positive public relations with tenants.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously.
• Resourceful team player with collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of building mechanical and electrical systems, performing maintenance and repairs including lighting, chilled/heating water systems, rooftop equipment, compressors, boilers, HVAC control systems, and fire alarm/sprinkler systems.
• Monitor and assist contractors to ensure efficient performance of their contracted duties and maintain quality standards.
• Record mechanical readings at regular intervals and maintain documentation of system performance.
• Maintain preventative maintenance program for life safety equipment and perform necessary repairs for safety and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve building system issues in a timely manner to minimize tenant disruption.
• Maintain positive tenant relations through professional communication and responsive service delivery.
• Work with hand tools and at heights as required to complete maintenance tasks.
• Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
