Job summary

Gilbane Development Company in Washington, DC is seeking an HR Generalist to manage daily onsite HR operations, including staffing, onboarding, and policy enforcement. You will act as the point of contact for employee inquiries, coordinate recruiting with department managers, and support training and compliance across the site.

The role requires 3–5 years of HR experience and an associate degree; a bachelor’s is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
• 3-5 years of Human Resources experience.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain verified training documents in compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
• Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants per policy; collaborate with department managers to understand required skills.
• Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
• Conduct or obtain background checks and employee eligibility verifications, including vaccination and health requirements.
• Administer and execute HR programs including talent acquisition, staffing, health and safety, and training.
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, and refer complex matters.
• Support disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations; review policies to ensure adherence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
