Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through financial assistance programs. The role is 100% onsite at a hospital in Sheldon, IA with a Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

schedule and requires a valid driver's license for local travel. You will meet patients in their hospital rooms to assess eligibility and help complete applications.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability with changing processes, computer systems and government programs.
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms.
• Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Outlook).
• Effective communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to multitask to meet metrics in a fast-paced environment.
• Hospital dress code compliance.
• Hybrid work policy and private workspace requirements for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside for eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs.
• Complete applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle calls and track enrollment/renewal for Medicaid.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and agencies by phone.
• Assist applicants with gathering documents and arranging transportation.
• Conduct in-person community visits as needed.
• Inform clients of approvals/denials in a timely manner.
• Attend required training on current rules and regulations.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
