Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through Medicaid and other assistance programs. The role is 100% onsite at an Alton, IL hospital with a Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm schedule.

The Advocate will perform bedside screenings, complete applications, and coordinate with hospital staff to ensure timely enrollment and follow-up, aiming for high bedside screening rates and strong patient service.

Qualifications

• Adaptability when dealing with changing processes and government programs.
• Experience with state and federal programs is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, or county assistance.
• Complete and follow through on required applications until approved.
• Document accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle calls and track enrollment and renewal paperwork for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone.
