Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist II to support the management, processing, and quality of patient medical records. This role focuses on maintaining accurate documentation, processing requests, and ensuring HIPAA privacy compliance. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Location: Onsite in Jacksonville, FL. Pay: $18/hour. Ideal candidates have 1–4 years in medical records, experience with EHR/EMR systems like Epic or Allscripts, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–4 years of medical records or HIM experience preferred.
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems such as Epic or Allscripts preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
• Strong data entry and computer skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Index, scan, organize, and maintain patient medical records in EHR/EMR systems.
• Process medical record requests from patients, insurers, and other authorized parties.
• Review and audit records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming appointments, procedures, or surgeries.
• Identify missing or incomplete documentation and follow up with departments.
• Perform accurate data entry while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Ensure records are processed in accordance with HIPAA and privacy requirements.
• Assist with quality assurance activities and identify documentation discrepancies.
• Provide support and guidance to team members as needed.
• May assist with training new employees and participate in team meetings.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy when handling confidential information.
