Job summary

Apex Systems seeks a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer in Chandler, AZ, onsite. The role emphasizes seeker modeling, target tracking, and advanced GNC algorithms for missile and launch-vehicle systems. Secret clearance is required. The position follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

The candidate will lead GNC development, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality flight and simulation software, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience, or Master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 0 years in electrical/aerospace/mechanical engineering.
• Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control concepts, algorithms, or analysis for aerospace or missile systems.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar tools, in Linux.
• Must have an active DOD Secret clearance or be able to obtain one prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and evaluation of GNC systems for advanced aerospace applications, focusing on seeker-based engagements and intercept performance.
• Own algorithm design and analysis using models, control theory, and state estimation for seeker measurements.
• Architect and maintain 6-DOF simulations; define metrics and perform trade studies.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability.
• Lead design, development, verification, and test of flight and simulation software.
• Maintain and evolve 6-DOF simulations for flight algorithms and code validation.
• Optimize software for performance, robustness, and maintainability.
• Execute analysis campaigns using trajectory optimization and present results to leadership.
