Job summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to support fuel cell systems installed in electric lift trucks at Walmart in Opelika, AL.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair breakdowns, and install upgrades at a fixed location, reporting issues and ordering parts as needed. The role requires strong electrical/mechanical skills, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and good communication with customer personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
• Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
• Computer and software systems skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
• Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a specific location.
• Performing specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells.
• Providing on-call and emergency support service to customers as required.
• Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as required.
• May require troubleshooting and maintenance of hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, and high pressure gas systems.
• Travel as required for business needs; represent Plug Power professionally at all times.
