Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3 years production experience in a production environment.
• LEAN manufacturing experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Strong math and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide first level leadership, coaching and direction to the manufacturing team.
• Plan the flow of materials and assign labor to meet orders and schedules.
• Foster problem solving and continuous improvement using LEAN manufacturing principles.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
• Share information across production, planning, maintenance, warehouse and customer service to meet deadlines.
• Interview, hire, and train employees; appraise performance.
• Work with ERP system to ensure scheduled orders are completed and inventory cycle counts occur.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Analyze and resolve work problems to exceed safety, quality, and cost metrics.
• Maintain time and production records.
• Reward and discipline employees; address safety and quality issues.
• Report incidents and downtime daily; write SOPs and train staff on procedures.
• Ensure quality and quantity of output and assess development needs.
• Coordinate with maintenance, planning, quality control, accounting and R&D.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director of Operations on improvements or capital projects.
• Ensure plant personnel practice safe work habits.
