Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions is seeking an experienced Fastener Application Engineer for onsite support in Auburn Hills, MI. The role focuses on fastener joint design, validation, testing, and issue resolution to ensure performance and reliability.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and have 3–5 years in fastener engineering, with knowledge of torque development, materials, coatings, and installation techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in fastener engineering or related technical role.
• Strong knowledge of fastener materials, coatings, joint design, torque development, testing methods, and installation techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, joint cross-sections, material specs, test data, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite technical support for fastener applications from design through validation and issue resolution.
• Conduct joint reviews and recommend fasteners, torque specs, testing requirements, and design improvements.
• Determine validation methods (torque-to-failure, torque-to-yield, torque-tension, clamp-load, ultrasonic).
• Develop tightening strategies (dynamic torque, residual torque, torque-angle).
• Coordinate laboratory testing, analyze results, and document technical recommendations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers.
