Job summary

Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) is seeking a Family Support Specialist to collaborate with the ERSEA and Family Engagement Team to implement Family Support Services at subcontracted sites in Renton and within PSESD boundaries.

The role involves engaging with families, teachers and children to understand and support ongoing needs, administering program standards, and facilitating family meetings, health screenings, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in human services, social services, family services, or counseling.
• Experience working with culturally diverse families.
• Professional experience with Case Work.
• Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to using a racial equity lens.
• Experience working in a childhood setting.
• Experience with Community Based Organization, Grassroots Movements, and/or working with and for Social Justice.
• Experience with ECEAP reporting and administrative tasks.
• Bilingual speaking ability through Spanish language.

Responsibilities

• Administers ECEAP and Head Start program standards to ensure program eligibility and compliance.
• Assesses family and infant/child needs to determine eligibility and develop action plans.
• Assist parents in developing action plans to remove barriers to child’s success.
• Develop health, nutrition and family support plans for enrolled children.
• Maintain records and documentation.
• Orient prospective participants to program, services and processes.
• Support onboarding of new FSS at subcontractor locations.
• Plan and facilitate family meetings and parent involvement events.
• Provide outreach to low income communities and organizations to recruit families and build partnerships.
• Provide or assist with health screenings, immunization verifications, and referrals.
• Recruit and enroll eligible children to maintain full enrollment.
• Report suspected incidents to appropriate parties for health and safety compliance.
• Visit children’s homes to enroll students and share resources.
