Job summary

Family- is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to provide family support services to Head Start and Early Head Start families through home visits, family partnership activities, and community referrals.

The role includes classroom and playground liaison duties, communicating child goals to families, and ensuring safety and fidelity to PFCE and HSPPS standards. The position emphasizes equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed approaches.

Qualifications

• Strong relationship-building with families and staff.
• Excellent communication with parents, children, and partners.
• Experience in case management and referrals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular home visits and family contacts to support engagement.
• Recruit and enroll eligible families and support attendance.
• Provide family support to strengthen parenting, stability, and well‑being.
• Collaborate with families on family strengths, needs and partnership agreements.
• Support goal setting and connect families to housing, food, transportation, education, and other resources.
• Promote parent engagement in classroom activities and program governance.
• Communicate about each child’s educational goals and progress with families.
• Assist with crisis intervention, problem solving, and referrals as needed.
• Maintain confidential, accurate documentation of family contacts and referrals.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
