Job summary

General Motors Corporation in Flint, MI invites a Facilities Manager to oversee maintenance, security, and space planning at the manufacturing facility. You will manage building systems, coordinate with contractors, and lead a small team of Facilities Engineers to ensure safe, efficient operations onsite.

This full-time onsite role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of leadership in manufacturing, with strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or equivalent professional level experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, facilities organization, or related operations function.
• Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management.
• Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills with acute attention to detail.
• Able to work on-site on holidays, weekends, and/or evenings, if needed.
• Has experience writing Appropriation Requests and has maintained project spending information for prior projects – on-time and on-budget history a-plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance of the manufacturing facility, including building systems, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Manage facility projects, renovations, expansions, and reconfigurations, ensuring safety standards and budget constraints.
• Coordinate external contractors and service providers for facility maintenance and repairs, including acting as site SME for WSS PS6 SCM.
• Monitor facility expenses, review contracts, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules for building systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety equipment.
• Plan for future development in line with strategic business objectives.
• Investigate security incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Interact and collaborate with different teams cross-functionally.
• Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities (may include preparing and giving presentations).
• Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employees as appropriate.
• Act as people leader to a small team of Facilities Engineers as direct reports.
• Manage on site 3rd party provider responsible for Housekeeping, Facilities maintenance, and mobile equipment repair.
